2015 WFTDA Playoffs Rankings – Week 14

Welcome back to the latest 2015 Weekly rankings.  As we are now down to 12 (16 kinda) teams left playing in the 2014 Season, it is time for teams to fully begin preparing for the 2015 Playoffs.  If the playoffs were to start today, 58 of the 60 teams that just competed in the D1 and D2 Playoffs would be returning.  Big Easy and Blue Ridge are on the outside looking in, but they will have plenty of time to make it back into the Top 60.  The two teams currently on the inside who missed the 2014 Playoffs are a very impressive Dallas squad, who has just been on fire lately, and Calgary who is looking to bring even more teams from Canada into the WFTDA Playoffs.  Later on this week I will release a comparison to these rankings if Playoff Modifiers did not exist.  That shouldn’t make a huge difference at the top, but that 40-60 range could see major shake ups.

Now in other Playoff Ranking news, we have a new high scoring bout.  Rose City for their 236-96 win over Victoria is the first team to crack the 1,000 point WFTDA bout.  They earned 1,039.29 points for their effort (769.84 points and then 269.45 Playoff Modifier points).  In this one bout the Playoff Modifier points earned would be enough to be ranked 51st in the 2015 Rankings or to have ranked 31st in the 2014 Rankings.

I will get more into this in a future blog, but I feel that these Playoff Modifiers are going to have a negative effect on the overall rankings as the top teams Weights and Scores will just keep climbing uncontrollably and will make it very difficult for up and coming teams to climb the ranks.  Don’t worry I will have plenty of charts and graphs to support this.  But I digressed, here are the weekly rankings.
